London Royal family is one of the major tourist draws of London. As of today, Buckingham Palace stands of the British Monarch and the royal family. You’ll want to take your London Minibus to the City of Westminster to visit this historically rich place which used to just be known as Buckingham House.
It was built by the Duke of Buckingham in 1705, however in 1761 King George the third acquired it as a private residence for his Queen Charlotte and called it the “Queen’s House”. It wasn’t until Queen Victoria in 1837 moved into it that it finally became the official royal palace of the British Monarch.
It hasn’t been enlarged since the 19th century however when the palace chapel was destroyed by a German bomb in World War Two, the Queen’s Gallery was built on the site and opened to the public in 1962. The Queen’s Gallery exhibits works of art from the Royal Collection to the public.
One of the most interesting uses of Buckingham palace was the presentation of Debutantes. The court presentation of aristocratic girls to the Monarch would take place in the throne room. These girls would “come out” in to society to try to present themselves as suitable for marriage. However, in 1958, the Queen discontinued this practice replacing them with Garden Parties, instead.
Maybe if you are lucky, you’ll be one of the 50,00 guests invited to be entertained there. I am certain that taking your London Minibus to Buckingham Palace will be the highlight of you minibus tour of London.
